February 2010 Lunch at Five Guys Burgers and Fries

Hello all,

I hope this post finds you well. This February's ride/meal was supposed to be yesterday, but God had other plans. The blizzard from which we all had to excavate ourselves left the restaurant, where we were going to eat, closed due to the weather. I was hoping to meet with you fine folk and maybe some of your family or friends. It was not to be for this month. So, instead I'll have to share the Scripture for this month through cyberspace. The passage from St. Paul's letter to the Ephesians is below, chapter 2, verses 1 though 10, from the Bible in the New International Version translation.

January 2010 Lunch at Jake's Hamburgers

Hey Folks,

For those who didn't come, you missed a good burger! And you missed some great conversations with some good men and a young lady. Thanks to cat, ANLR21, and pohlcat for coming out; with cat0020 winning the "man of steel award" for riding to lunch. Some plans were discussed for the upcoming season and a good time was had by all. The next lunch will be February 6th in the Allentown area. Watch for details in the Pa. forum.

November 2009 Ride - "Jump into Jersey"

Many things frustrated the riders that showed up for this ride. I took my jacket on and off over three times, until I figured out how to run the wires for the heated gloves. (It was 26 degrees this morning). Another rider couldn't get his bike to start and had to charge the battery. A different rider went back into the house numerous times to get proper cold weather gear. A different rider had a slow speed lowside just outside of his driveway. It took determination to get to this ride today, and the five riders that showed up, had it in spades. It was a good ride as well, despite having to slab 30 minutes to get over to NJ in the first place. After that it was: "Welcome to NJ, where there is a car perpetually in front of you". Honestly, we were only behind cars at the beginning and end of the ride, the middle was cool. We even rode on "Shades of Death" road and lived to tell about it. Speaking of life, the Scripture for this month is below:

October 2009 Ride - "Carbon County Screamer"

The weather was giving us fits approaching this weekend. First it was rain all day, then 20% chance of rain, then rain the night before, then only a thunder shower around 4. Well, none of that happened, the streets were damp and we encountered a little fog. By 10AM though we were in glorious sunshine and it stayed that way all day long. We had 10 people at breakfast, and 7 attended the ride. Some folk had commitments and others had mechanical issues, but we left with 7. We did some dirt riding up and over the Blue Ridge and I dropped the bike on an uphill turn where I was in the wrong gear and the bike bogged. I stopped put my feet down and over she went on the downhill side. I went with it, rolled and got back up, only damage done was to my pride. And I had to do three u-turns, oh well. The Good News: We found some kickin' roads although half the group missed them because they had to leave partway through the ride. We even had a switchback so tight and vertical, it was rated as a 5mph corner! That's what I'm talkin' bout. Anyway, we missed those that couldn't make it.

September 2009 Ride - "Bucks/Mont Run"

Well, I advised folk not to miss it and they sure didn't miss it. Wait, I'm getting ahead of myself! First of all, thanks to God for bringin' out 22 bikes with 24 people to ride, besides myself, on a holiday weekend. Thanks also to the good Lord for no crashes, a few folk that got lost, and only one U-turn (still shooting for a perfect score). That, and God gave us some perfect weather to boot. The message for this week was "barriers" and the sin in our lives puts up a barrier between us and God. The Good News is that God has removed the barrier through Christ and we can have salvation through Him. The Scripture's below, thanks to all who helped,

August 2009 Ride - "Shamokin Screamer"

Hey Folks,

I just wanted to thank Steve, Andyr, and John that came out to help with this ride which included twenty bikes. We had one person go down and went to the hospital where he was treated and released. Thank God! Besides that the ride went smoothly and I only had one U-turn, I'm improving! We did over 300 miles on great roads with beautiful scenery. I forgot to bring my camera, so I will have to post a link later to view others pics. Sorry. Despite the crash, a good time was had by all.
