January 2012 Lunch at the Buckeye Tavern

Well, I am very late, but I'm here. I'll post up my two pics and give everyone a run down of what happened. We met up for lunch on the 7th @ the Buckeye tavern. I arrived early, about 12:35pm for a 1 o'clock lunch, and met up with kpilot. We chatted for a few minutes and soon folk started driving in. Both he and I were kind of surprised, because the weather was beautiful. Most folk had their bikes put away or in pieces, so they couldn't ride here. Others brought their spouses that don't ride or they came from work or other obligations. Either way, they came, over 15 folk came to our first winter lunch. We caught up with each other, some not being seen or heard from in months. I soon urged folk in to have lunch or we'd still be out there talking! The food and service were good and in no time two and half hours had passed. We had fun talking about family, the holidays, past rides, and the ones yet to come. Once we paid and returned to the parking lot, kpilot and I were going to go on a small jaunt over to Center Valley where we would part ways. We got started, but had to split up no more than 5 minutes into the ride. I looked down and saw that it was almost 3:30PM and I told my wife I would be home by 4pm, DOH! So, I bid kpilot farewell and raced home with 5 minutes to spare. It was great to see everyone again and I am looking forward to next month already. The pictures are below:

December 2011 Ride - "Berks County Blitz"

Well I think starting 1 hour later didn't change the temperature much. It was still 28 degrees F when I left my house. But it got warmer sooner! I was a bit discouraged that when I finally got to the diner, only one person rode besides me. However I was pleased that 11 folk came out for breakfast, you all are great! We did have a good time visiting with folk and getting to know each other better. It was so good to see Seven after 9 months of absence. It was sad to hear that he'll be leaving to move to Georgia to be with his new bride shortly. We're gonna miss you Seven! Godspeed my brother! Eventually frindle came and helped me out, he was riding today. So, the two of us went out on our 100 mile Berks county jaunt. We had a blast carving up the roads. This was Frindle's first CSBA run on his new (to him) CBR1000RR. We had a good time riding and a great lunch at the Exeter Family Restaurant. We then scooted home and I was home by 2:30 PM. I didn't read any Scriptures this month, but I did want to post up a Psalm I have been meditating on for 10 days now. Meditating on Scriptures was something a coworker suggested and it has really been a blessing on my life. Our next CSBA event will be a lunch on January 7th, 2012, details to follow. May you all have a blessed Christmas and New Year.

November 2011 Ride - "Jump into Jersey"

Well we did have nice weather, no rain, but it was cold in the morning! It was close to 28 degrees F when I left my house. We all gathered for Breakfast at the Starlite Diner with some folks from justwannaride coming up from Bristol, Philly, and NJ; plus the regulars. Thanks to kirchsnr, RT, Sal, and frindle for coming to breakfast. Even though you all couldn't ride it was great to talk with you and hear of your epic adventures. Frindle, congrats on the new bike, she is sweet! RT, get well soon, it was good to see you walking around on your own power. Thanks to everyone else who not only came but rode.

After the ride meeting, we got ready to roll. Some folk were mentioning the need for gas. I asked if they could make 30-40 miles, they said they probably could. Well, was I wrong!! We ended up stopping to wait for those that lost their way to the fuel stop and folk had to go get fuel already. So, next time we'll wait the 10 minutes so everyone can get fuel. Lesson learned by me! After some texts sent we hooked up with most of our errant riders. We had one guy slip on some water that came from a car wash. We figured it might have had armor all or something in it. No injuries or major damage, he picked up his bike and off we went.

September 2011 Ride - "Bucks-Mont Run"

Each ride morning before I head out from my place to the diner, I check email, the forums, and the weather. I had no new emails, I found out two folk would be joining us, very cool and the rain would stay to the north of us at least until supper time. After I suited up and got on the sled, I headed out on the roads. Here in Montgomery county the roads were dry, so I was pouring on the coals and having some fun on the way up north. Once I entered Berks county, the roads were wet but not under the trees, so I had to dial it back a bit. I got to the diner a few minutes early to see XIII and have kirchsnr pull up a minute later. Not more than 3 minutes after that, Cabanaboy pulled in with that loud SV of his. What is it with these V-twin guys, they all have loud pipes?? Just as we were about to head in Kantos Kan showed up with Royal Tiger. It was good to see the both of them again. Even though RT is still healing from his accident, his rapier wit is still intact. Pretty soon frindle, jlasure, and some others showed up, including Ron W with that sweet R1 he just got, nice! We went in to have some hot grub before shoving off to ride. JZ! soon joined us for breakfast and we all had fun laughing about the crazy adventures we've had in the last few months.

August 2011 Ride - "Shamokin Screamer"

I'm sorry it took me a few days to post this ride report, I had a busy weekend. I wanted to thank Dewey and Will for coming out for the first time, it was cool to ride with you guys. Also thanks to kpilot and wildwillie for being trail riders for the groups. Thanks also to Andyr for leading a group.

We all met at the Starlite Diner talking a bit before going in for breakfast. It started out with 5 of us, but 5 more joined us to eat and six more were in the parking lot when we came out. After having a good breakfast and talking about work, family, and how both can get in the way of riding, we went outside. By the way, Kantos Kan, it was good to see you again. I hope you can get back on some wheels soon! For some folks this was the first ride they made all year, due to obligations.

After helping Andyr get his chain adjusted, we had our riders meeting and split into groups according to pace. Strangely enough, the lead group had 11 and the chase had 5; the exact opposite of last months ride. I had the lead group and andyr led the chase group. We did make it through the first light at the diner with no issues and I took that as a good sign. From there we went west into Berks county then north into Schuylkill county.

July 2011 Ride - "Dive into Delaware"

This ride was for most parts a good ride, no crashes and no rain. One of our trail riders got left behind from one of our groups due to some confusion. I am currently in dialogue with some of the members and ride attendees to see that this doesn't happen again. I think the main culprit was that the one group was too large and the leader couldn't see the last bike. We did encounter two roads that were tarred and chipped, stinkin' Penndot! But we were only on them a short distance, so it wasn't so bad. We did do a lot of nice roads and had an awesome lunch at the Sovana Bistro in Kennett Square. We saw a lot of cool farms and houses with animals, some wild and some domestic. I almost took out some lazy buzzards that were eating something on the road, but no harm came to the birds. Thanks to those who lead groups and did trail rider duties. Thanks to some new faces and old friends who came out, some near and some far. Next month we are going north up into the mountains, so I hope to see you all there. Below are the Scriptures for this month.
