December 5, 2015 Berks County Blitz

Berks County Blitz Promo

We give thanks to God for his wisdom and the ability to serve and be appreciated….

Brrrr – it was the start to a wonderful day of riding, but there was a price to pay upfront – and that was a cold blustery morning and ride in. Before the day even started we had two riders go down on what was slippery “black ice” pavement. Failure to launch from our Philly Crew due to a down rider kept them local, and the other rider did his impersonation of a spinning top when he hit a patch coming out of the fuel stop before reporting for duty at our morning meet-up. Luckily both riders were ok.

Among the ranks for the ride today were Kairi, Rusty, Rick, Mark, Steve, John and Jim. Nelson and his girls along with Mike & Nicole (and family) came out to enjoy breakfast with us. Breakfast was really yummy!

November 7, 2015 Pounding the Poconos Ride

-Group Morning Picture – 10 in attendance - (Alan got cut off – sorry!) -

It’s always a blessing to serve and be appreciated. We give thanks to God for his wisdom and harvest….

The day was overcast, but we were in great spirits. We were missing our trigger-man on the camera (Larry), but Nelson and family came out to join us for breakfast. He filled in and snapped a few shots to capture the launch of our morning send off. We had 10 riders report for duty for our “Pounding the Poconos” ride; our National President Mark Hamm was present, Jim M, John K, Allan C, Kairi P, Rusty Bucket, Nicholas B, Chris L, Jesse and yours truly. We had just enough to fill up 2 ranks, which meant a quick pace since all riders were on their “A” game.

During the morning jaunt, one of the riders started having chain problems and had to gracefully bow out. We did hear from him later in the morning and I’m happy to report he was home safe and sound by the time we pulled up for our lunch stop. The roads were slightly damp in the morning and full of cinders, so the standard complaint was getting peppered with gravel spray.

September 5, 2015 Rattlesnake Run

Full Group Morning Picture – 28 in attendance What a day! It started early for some and even earlier for others. We had riders from near and far... Long Island, NY, Sydney S., the Hudson River Valley NY, Ben and Abbe O. the tristate corner near Port Jervis. Sandy and Kaelin. Rusty, Kairi and a friend Ramon, snagged me at my early breakfast in Franconia and we had some fun rolling up to the Starlight. At breakfast it looked like we had 18 or so riders. Then I went out and found 13 more ready to go!

After a longer then desired period of talking, we got down to business and got sorted out into 4 groups, went over the rules of the road, thanked the lord for a gloriously beautiful day and set out. So let me back up for a moment, since that seemed to be a rule for the day... I made notes in my notebook about who was leading and sweeping for each group and promptly got it all scrambled up when I made the announcements. Leaders and sweeps were saying - What? To further complicate things, I was using the example of riding at ‘YOUR Pace’ and not to blindly follow the line or pace of the person in front of you. I said I’ve had few people go down behind me over the years so make sure you ‘ride your ride’. When everyone broke into their selected group, the F1 had 3 only riders! Lots of laughs and we picked up 4 more.

August 1, 2015 Shamokin Screamer Ride

Full Group Morning Picture – 36 in attendance - (Larry took the picture) -

It’s always a blessing to serve and be appreciated. We give thanks to God for his wisdom and harvest….

So, where do I start? We had very full ranks (36 in attendance) on this fine day, and of course, people came ready to ride. We had full family teams, Father/Son teams, and Mother/daughter teams. Some cruisers, some stretch bikes and of course some experienced fast riders, some slower paced rides, with everyone in the middle. We even had a family come down just to break bread and hangout! The main thing is everyone came to enjoy the roads with us – all bikes; all beliefs – that’s the rock the CSBA stands on, so I was thrilled to provide the backdrop for a thrilling day of what would soon to be a ride for the record books.

On my way in I ran up on a Busa traveling west on Rt22 that looked familiar to me. Turns out it was a bike our very own Ron W. recently sold to one of our newest CSBA members (John K.) so I got to roll in with him to the Starlight for our 8am meet-up. How very cool to meet him for the first time like that. We arrived just shy of 8:00a, and there was already a few waiting, eager to get the day started. I did hear from Sydney S. that he was having cooling issues and was turning back. Nick B. was present and accounted for, traveling all the way in from Long Island.

June 2015 Pocono Screamer Ride

The
Pocono Screamer Usual Suspects (Larry “aka Redline Images took the picture)

It’s always a blessing to serve - We give thanks to the Lord for his love and grace, as he directs our steps…

The Pocono Screamer – one of our most popular rides by members and visitors alike was not diminished with the presence of heavy rain coming from the east. Our friends from NY (Nick, Elena, Ralph and Chris) braved the rain to enjoy the day with us. NJ riders were in the ranks too with Lady Kim, her friends Wayne and Burley, Derek and the Immortals, along with Chris A. Rounding out the ranks, present and accounted for was Martin, Carl, Luis, Russ (aka Rusty Bucket), Sandy and Kaelin (daughter), Kairi, Chris, Matko, Drew, Lemuel, Nicholas, Rick, and Larry (taking the picture above). Nelson & Corey started out with us but Corey went directly to the Hawk’s Nest and Nelson had prior commitments and both missed lunch with us.

To start off the day, one needs a nice meal – so we broke bread in grand style in the private room at starlight that morning. Jenn came out to help us meet and greet our friends, of which I was extremely grateful for. We enjoyed our breakfast feast so much, that we got a late start coming out to greet the other riders.

May 2015 Blue Mountain Run

The full group

This ride marks our first official gathering without our CSBA National President (Mark Hamm), of which his presence was missed. He has been called to lead and Sheppard another group (Central PA Chapter), so we celebrate his decision and look forward to his visits with us again as time permits for him. To assure all were greeted with our presence on arrival, I made sure I was at our meet-up spot (Starlight diner) by 7:50a. A good feat for even me since I was up the greater part of the previous evening, affecting repairs on the “Mothership” to assure I was ready to ride Saturday morning. My efforts were not in vain and I was present and ready to get it in.

Shortly after my arrival, I was greeted by our old friend Rick J. He stopped in to enjoy fellowship and breakfast with us, but would not be riding this time. He’s still healing from a recent skiing accident, but I was extremely glad to enjoy his company. We will be looking for him to rejoin the ranks (and possibly lead a group) in June for our ever popular “Pocono Screamer” ride/event. In short order, Luis pulled up and relaxed outside, greeting others that came. Kairi and Rusty Bucket (Russ) joined Rick and I at our table for breakfast. The diner was quite busy so I wasn’t able to secure adjoining tables, so folks sat in pockets and not altogether.
