Hello all,

This April's ride was almost cancelled. I was praying this week asking God for dry weather. Well, we had dry weather, but it was chilly in the morning. The thermometer read 28 degrees Fahrenheit when I rolled out of my house. Brrr! There was about a dozen of us that came out to breakfast and around 8 of us that were on the ride, give or take. Weather, conflicting schedules, and bike problems kept more from coming out. Either way, it was good to have a smaller group compared to last year's 28 bikes. Besides the "usuals" we had two first time riders with the group, both cool guys. Here's hoping they come back again next month!

I led the first half of the ride down to Gap, PA. We had a slow speed low side spill on gravel. A broken turn signal and a crack in the fairing was the only damage. Besides that before lunch was a chance to see some bucolic farm scenery and some twisty roads. Although we did have one driver in an older Ford car accelerate as we went around him then tried to keep others from going around him. But he was gone by the next traffic light, I hope he has a better day. We also passed two seperate bike events that were along the road. Lunch at the Brass Eagle Family Restaurant was very good and after that I shared the Word and we continued on our way. About 1PM we came upon a bridge closure that was open when I reconned it last month. Andyr checked the GPS and we got around it and went on our way. Later on in the ride, a rider got a nail in his front tire. Thanks to kpilot for having a plug kit and some air cartridges, we got him fixed and heading home. From here on, Andyr lead the way in his new red Ducati. Did I mention it's fast?! We were moving now! We stopped at a scenic overlook near the Susquehanna river and one of our riders had to jet home to take care of business. While we were there JZ! talked riding technique with some of the guys and the rest of us checked out the scenery which included a remote control glider flight, pretty cool. We went down a dirt road then came back, Andyr's one u-turn, I think I had the customary three. We ended near Lancaster around 5:30PM tired, but happy. I think we all made it home before dark though. Let's do this next month!

Scripture Readings for April 2011

At lunch I mentioned that all last year I had recommended that folk consider/pursue a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Now, I figure some folk might have concerns or reasons for deciding on doing just that. So, for those who might think, "ahhh, not today, maybe later, when I'm older" I have four Scripture passages for you.

Proverbs 27:1 (New Living Translation)
Proverbs 27 1 Don’t brag about tomorrow, since you don’t know what the day will bring.

Isaiah 55:6 (New Living Translation)
6 Seek the Lord while you can find him. Call on him now while he is near.

2 Corinthians 6:1-2 (New Living Translation)
2 Corinthians 6 1 As God’s partners,[a] we beg you not to accept this marvelous gift of God’s kindness and then ignore it.
2 For God says,
“At just the right time, I heard you. On the day of salvation, I helped you.”[b] Indeed, the “right time” is now. Today is the day of salvation.

Luke 12:13-21 (New Living Translation)
Parable of the Rich Fool 13 Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.”
14 Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?”
15 Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”
16 Then he told them a story: “A rich man had a fertile farm that produced fine crops. 17 He said to himself, ‘What should I do? I don’t have room for all my crops.’ 18 Then he said, ‘I know! I’ll tear down my barns and build bigger ones. Then I’ll have room enough to store all my wheat and other goods. 19 And I’ll sit back and say to myself, “My friend, you have enough stored away for years to come. Now take it easy! Eat, drink, and be merry!”’
20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! You will die this very night. Then who will get everything you worked for?’
21 “Yes, a person is a fool to store up earthly wealth but not have a rich relationship with God.”

I'll leave you all with this: Seek God now while you can, we never know what today or tomorrow may bring. May God's blessings and peace be upon you. Next event: Blessing of the bikes, April 16th. I hope to see you there.
