Hey Folks,

Nine of us showed up for the breakfast at the Starlite Diner, and one of us was late. Eight of us went for a ride with 5 coming to eat at my place. In the middle of the ride we stopped up on a ridge right on the Applaichain trail and I shared the Word.

Scripture Readings for July 2009

Romans 1:18-25 (New International Version)

God's Wrath Against Mankind 18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse. 21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

I was hoping to use the great view as evidence of God's Creation but the trees had grown in and we saw lots of leaves instead. Oh well, the truth remains the same: mankind has pursued other things besides God. This has led to the problems facings the world as we know it, but God's grace (His unmerited love and favor) are still there for us. Our choice is to accept it and have relationship with Him or not.

Getting back to the picnic, it was good having folks over at our house. My wife was finally able to match faces with names and find out what cool folks you are. Not every one could come to the picnic due to the July 4th holiday, which was a bummer. But being it's a big picnic time I am glad folk came out even if it was just for breakfast or the ride. It was fun riding with you all and enjoying the new roads we found. That and I only made two U-turns, well, three if you count going back for gas. I look forward to August.
