Hello All,

On Saturday, May 1st, we had our monthly chapter ride out of Fogelsville. We had about 30 bikes (again) and everyone got home safely with no crashes. We did have some trouble but nothing too serious. I wanted to thank Carl, Rick J. and Drez for leading the rides and for Rick Pohl for posting pics.

After breakfast at the Starlite Diner we had a large group riders meeting. The safety tip for this month was situational awareness. We then asked riders to get into groups by pace; fast, medium or slow. We then found out that there were two bridge closures with detours and a wrong direction listed on the route sheet. Both were my fault in preparing the route sheets. The other problem we had was two groups stopped at the Pa./NJ border to wait for the other group. The problem was that other group didn't know it was supposed to stop, so it didn't. After the first two groups got a call back on the cell phones did we realize that the one group was already at lunch. So the groups finally all met up at the lunch stop where we read the Word. Then the first arriving group left, and the other two groups had lunch and then fueled up and headed home. This was learning experience for me about better route sheet preparation and communication. Next month will be the Pocono Screamer, a big favorite from last year. I hope you can all come out, it will be big fun. The Scripture is below:

Scripture Readings for May 2010

1 Thessalonians 5
1Now, brothers, about times and dates we do not need to write to you,
2for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.
3While people are saying, "Peace and safety," destruction will come on them suddenly, as labor pains on a pregnant woman, and they will not escape.
4But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief.
5You are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness.
6So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be alert and self-controlled.
7For those who sleep, sleep at night, and those who get drunk, get drunk at night.
8But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet.
9For God did not appoint us to suffer wrath but to receive salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
10He died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
11Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

When I was a boy, our family went out to have supper on a Friday night then stopped at an indoor farmers' market to get some produce. Once we got home we saw the front door was wide open. We thought that to be strange because we were sure it was closed when we left. We found out that we had been robbed. It was very disturbing that someone invaded our home tore through our stuff and left a big mess behind. This Scripture talks about thieves and how they come when you are not aware. It reminds us that Jesus will come the same way when we are not aware. This passage warns us to be ready, to have a right relationship with God, to live as God desires, and to turn from sin. In reading this, I want to ask you; does your life reflect this warning? Have you accepted God's salvation and are you living for Him? Do the spending of your time and money reflect that? Let's go back to the safety tip for the day: situational awareness. What situation is your life in with God? I ask you to consider that this month and choose this day whom you will serve. May God's blessing and peace be yours this month. I'll see you soon.
