eating lunch at Pizzeria Vetri, Philadelphia, PA Hello all,

Well for February it was a nice day, deceptively nice. As in up to the low 50's with a lot of sun. I thought, "I can ride the bike out my snowy driveway, it's not deep, an inch or two." THAT was wrong, and I found how much wrong that was after all the repairs. Nothing serious just a low side, but the parts cost enough. Once I got myself picked up and got in the car, I hustled down to Philly to meet up with some friends who came down to a relatively new pizza place for lunch.

Since the weather was nice the place was full, so I put in our name and found out it was a 45 minute wait. Then more folks showed up and the wait was up to an hour now. Well, some folks couldn't wait that long, so they headed on their way. It was cool to sit and talk with them and to catch up with their crazy lives. I also discovered today what a portal gun was, even though it wasn't allowed to leave the car. We finally did get to sit and the pizza wasn't bad, pretty good actually.

Scripture Readings for February 2014

I read some Scripture from the book of Jeremiah, chapter 1, verses 1-10. It speaks of Jeremiah's call and the history approaching the start of the book. In his calling Jeremiah is exhorted to be faithful and how God had a great mission for Him. He knew Jeremiah since before he was born and made him to be a prophet to the nations. During Jeremiah's lifetime he would go before kings and princes exhorting them to follow God and repent from evil. Did they listen? No, and the final tribes of Israel were overthrown, Jerusalem was destroyed, and the people were sent into slavery. What did Jeremiah do wrong? Nothing, as a matter of fact, God counted him as faithful because he continued into his calling until his death. God doesn't want us to concern ourselves with results, but instead with us being faithful to our calling and let Him worry about results. Here's the word:

The words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests at Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin. 2 The word of the Lord came to him in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah, 3 and through the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, down to the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile. The Call of Jeremiah

4 The word of the Lord came to me, saying,

5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew[a] you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”

6 “Alas, Sovereign Lord,” I said, “I do not know how to speak; I am too young.”

7 But the Lord said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am too young.’ You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the Lord.

9 Then the Lord reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, “I have put my words in your mouth. 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.”
